Santarém Waterfront Hosts Massive New Year Celebration

The Santarém waterfront in Pará served as the primary location for New Year's Eve celebrations, drawing thousands of people who arrived early to secure spots for the musical performances. The event attracted not only local residents but also visitors from cities such as Vitória do Xingu and Presidente Figueiredo in Amazonas.

The celebration featured six regional and national artists covering various musical styles including axé, calypso, and brega paraense. Municipal Secretary of Culture Priscila Castro explained that the lineup was designed to reflect the diverse musical tastes of the Santarém population. Mayor José Maria Tapajós praised the event, stating it symbolized joy and renewal for the community.

The band Ara Ketu, featuring vocalist Guga Camaféu, performed during the countdown to the new year. At midnight, a ten-minute fireworks display marked the arrival of 2026. The festivities solidified the waterfront as a central venue for popular celebrations in the region.

The farewell to 2025 took place to the sound of Ara Ketu, who commanded the countdown to the turn of the year. Vocalist Guga Camaféu celebrated the audience's reception and highlighted the emotion of participating in the event.

Camaféu remarked: "A beautiful opportunity to enter the year together with the entire population of Santarém, who received us with much love."

At midnight, the countdown was followed by approximately ten minutes of fireworks, marking the arrival of 2026 in grand style. The spectacle concluded a night of celebration that consolidated the waterfront as the central stage for large popular parties.
