Woman Murdered in Bom Repouso; Ex-Boyfriend Suspect

A tragic homicide occurred in the early hours of January 1, 2026, in Bom Repouso, Minas Gerais. The victim, identified as Bruna Aline Rodrigues de Souza, 27, was attacked and killed inside a residence in the Nossa Senhora de Fátima neighborhood.

According to police reports, the crime took place around 2:00 AM. The primary suspect is identified as the victim's ex-boyfriend, a 21-year-old male. Witnesses claim the suspect broke into the home and assaulted the victim with a sharp object while children were present. The children fled the scene to seek help, but the victim succumbed to her injuries before medical assistance arrived. The suspect reportedly fled the location on a motorcycle. Authorities are currently searching for the suspect, who has not yet been located.

The fatal attack took place on Thursday night at approximately 2:00 AM. The victim, Bruna Aline Rodrigues de Souza, had been at a local bar before visiting the home of a witness to care for a group of children, which included her own two children and five others.

According to witness accounts, the suspect, identified as the victim's 21-year-old ex-boyfriend, forcibly entered the property. The assailant reportedly attacked Bruna with a sharp object in the presence of the children. Terrified by the violence, the children ran out of the residence to scream for help. When the witness returned to the house, they discovered Bruna fallen with multiple wounds. Emergency services were contacted immediately, but the victim was already deceased.

The suspect fled the scene immediately following the attack. Police reports indicate he escaped using a motorcycle. The speed of his departure prevented immediate intervention by bystanders or arriving officers.

Following the report, the Polícia Militar (Military Police) and the technical team from the Polícia Civil (Civil Police) were dispatched to the scene. Officers secured the area while the forensic team conducted standard investigative work at the location.

Investigators gathered statements from multiple witnesses. One witness confirmed that the aggressor was the victim's ex-boyfriend. Furthermore, the victim's mother provided crucial context to the police, stating that her daughter had been previously threatened by the suspect. She indicated that the motivation behind the crime was likely passional (related to emotional or relationship issues).

During the search for the suspect, military police located the owner of the motorcycle used in the escape. The owner stated that the vehicle had been used without authorization. Despite checking the suspect's residence, authorities have not yet located him. The search for the 21-year-old suspect is ongoing.

Following the on-site investigation, the body of Bruna Aline Rodrigues de Souza was transported to the IML (Instituto Médico Legal) of Pouso Alegre. An autopsy was performed to determine the exact cause of death and document the extent of the injuries sustained during the attack.

After the legal procedures are completed at the IML, the victim's body will be repatriated to her hometown. Bruna was a native of São Sebastião do Tocantins, located in the state of Tocantins (TO). Due to the significant distance between Pouso Alegre and São Sebastião do Tocantins, the body will be transported by air. As of the latest reports, there is no confirmed date for the release of the body or the scheduled burial.
