Transgender Woman Fatally Shot in Feira de Santana

A 40-year-old transgender woman, identified as Jullyana Freitas Leite, was shot and killed on the night of Thursday, January 8, in Feira de Santana, Bahia. According to preliminary investigations by the Civil Police, the crime occurred after a client refused to pay for sexual services.

The victim had taken the client's cell phone as collateral to ensure payment, but the man returned minutes later armed with a gun. He shot Leite and fled on a motorcycle. Police recovered the suspect's cell phone, two of the victim's phones, and a vehicle parked outside the residence. The Homicide Police Department and the Specialized Criminal Investigation Department are investigating the case as a dispute.

The fatal shooting occurred at approximately 22:00 on January 8, at a residence located on Rua Los Angeles in the Parque Getúlio Vargas neighborhood. The victim, Jullyana Freitas Leite, was found dead at the scene.

According to the Civil Police, Leite rented rooms at the property to attend clients. On the night of the incident, she received a man at around 20:00. Following the service, the suspect refused to pay for the program. To guarantee receipt of the payment, the victim kept the client's cell phone. The man then left the location, stating that he would return with the money.

Minutes later, the suspect returned armed. He shot Leite and fled the scene on a motorcycle. The investigation indicates that the crime was motivated by a desavença (dispute).

Teams from the Delegacia de Homicídios (DH) and the Departamento Especializado de Investigações Criminais (Deic) responded to the scene to register the occurrence. The police collected physical evidence from the location.

Items recovered and seized by the police include:

• The suspect's cell phone, which was left at the scene.
• Two cell phones belonging to the victim.
• A car that was parked in front of the residence.

Investigators are analyzing footage from videomonitoramento cameras installed near the house to assist in identifying the perpetrator. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide.

The body of Jullyana Freitas Leite was transported to the Departamento de Polícia Técnica (DPT) for a necropsy. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to gather evidence regarding the circumstances of the death.
