Mega da Virada 2025: Record R$1.09 Billion Prize Won

The Mega da Virada 2025 concluded with a historic payout of R$1.09 billion, marking the largest prize in Brazilian lottery history. The draw, which took place on January 1, 2026, was delayed from its original December 31 schedule due to technical issues. Six tickets matched the winning numbers: 09, 13, 21, 32, 33, and 59.

Three of the winning bets were placed online via the Caixa Econômica Federal platform. These winners are located in Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo. Each will receive R$181.892.881,09. The other three winning tickets were purchased at physical lottery houses in João Pessoa, Ponta Porã, and Franco da Rocha. The event generated unprecedented traffic, with digital channels recording 120,000 transactions per second.

The Caixa Econômica Federal confirmed the details of the three winning online bets for the Mega da Virada 2025. These tickets were registered in Belo Horizonte (MG), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), and São Paulo (SP). Each winner is set to receive R$181.892.881,09.

The winning numbers drawn were 09, 13, 21, 32, 33, and 59. According to the Caixa, the specific details of the online bets differ:

• The bet from Belo Horizonte was made with nine numbers.
• The bet from the Rio de Janeiro was made with ten numbers.
• The bet from São Paulo was made with nine numbers.

All three winning online bets were simple wagers registered through the Loterias Caixa portal or mobile app. In total, six apostas acertaram as seis dezenas (six bets matched the six numbers), splitting the historic prize value.

The Mega da Virada 2025 draw was originally scheduled for 22:00 on December 31, 2025. However, the Caixa announced a delay of one hour, followed by a further postponement to January 1, 2026. The prize value of R$1.09 billion generated unprecedented movement across all betting channels.

Digital channels reached a peak of 120,000 transactions per second. In physical lottery units, the movement reached 4,745 transactions per second. Before the Mega da Virada draw, other games also experienced delays. On December 31, at 17:11, it was announced that Quina, Lotofácil, +Milionária, Lotomania, and Super Sete would have their results released later. At 23:25, it was confirmed that all draws would be conducted on January 1.

Beyond the main jackpot, the Caixa Econômica Federal detailed the secondary prizes. A total of 3,921 bets matched the quina (five numbers), with each winner receiving R$11.931,42. Furthermore, 308,315 bets matched the quadra (four numbers), with each winner receiving R$216,76.

Winners must present the winning ticket or digital confirmation along with a photo ID and CPF. For prizes of R$10,000 or more, payment is processed at least two business days after the winner presents themselves at a Caixa agency. The deadline to claim prizes is 90 days from the draw date. After this period, funds are directed to the Student Financing Fund (FIES).
