Man Arrested for Domestic Violence in Fortaleza

A 51-year-old man was arrested in the Farias Brito neighborhood of Fortaleza after violently attacking his 31-year-old partner. The incident, which occurred on January 6, was captured by a security camera inside the residence. Footage shows the man, who appeared to be intoxicated, pushing the victim, slapping her, attempting to strangle her, and tearing her dress.

Following the assault, the man was recorded scratching his own arms to create the appearance of injuries, allegedly to claim self-defense. The victim reported that the couple had been together for nearly three years and that aggression motivated by jealousy was constant. She also stated that she had been threatened with death if she reported him, but she contacted the police anyway. The man was taken to the Women's Defense Police Station and faces charges of bodily injury. The victim noted that the violence had worsened over the last two years.

Law enforcement officials arrested a 51-year-old man in flagrante delicto following a violent domestic dispute in Fortaleza. The event took place in the Farias Brito district on January 6. A security camera installed in the living room of the residence recorded the entire sequence of events.

The footage reveals the aggressor, described as visibly altered, repeatedly pushing the victim onto a sofa. The violence escalated as the man slapped the woman, attempted to strangle her, and ripped her dress. According to the victim's report, the man showed signs of intoxication at the time of the crime. After the physical attack, the cameras captured the man scratching his own arms in an attempt to fabricate evidence of self-defense.

Despite explicit threats from the aggressor, the victim managed to contact the police. Officers arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. The Secretaria de Segurança Pública do Estado (Secretariat of Public Security of the State) issued a statement confirming the arrest.

The victim provided details regarding the history of the relationship, stating that the couple had been together for almost three years. She explained that episodes of aggression were constant, driven primarily by jealousy. The victim reported that the abuse had intensified significantly over the previous two years.

She further revealed that she had attempted to report the abuse in the past but felt too much shame to proceed at that time. During this specific incident, the aggressor threatened to kill her if she reported the crime to the authorities. Despite this fear, she proceeded to activate the police.

Following the arrest, the suspect was transported to the Delegacia de Defesa da Mulher (Women's Defense Police Station). The Secretaria de Segurança Pública do Estado confirmed that the man was arrested for lesão corporal (bodily injury).

The suspect is scheduled to undergo a audiência de custódia (custody hearing). The police force continues to monitor the case closely.
