IFMA Opens Applications for 450 Remote Graduate Spots

The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Maranhão (IFMA) has opened applications for 450 spots in two new graduate programs. The courses are offered through distance learning at the Itapecuru-Mirim campus.

Registration is free and must be completed by January 19, 2026. The programs available are Environmental Education and Informatics in Education. The selection process is simplified, and candidates must have a recognized undergraduate degree to apply.

The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Maranhão (IFMA) is offering two distinct graduate programs to meet specific market demands. Both courses are structured in the lato sensu modality and are conducted entirely online.

The first program is Environmental Education. It is designed for professionals holding a degree recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC). Eligible backgrounds include Engineering (Environmental, Sanitary, Civil), Technology in Environmental Management, Agroecology, Biology, Geology, Oceanography, Chemistry, Geography, Architecture, and Law. The course is also open to other professionals engaged in environmental causes. The duration of the Environmental Education program is 18 months, which includes the preparation and presentation of the Course Completion Work (TCC).

The second program is Informatics in Education. This course is intended for graduates who currently work or plan to work in the educational sector utilizing information and communication technologies. The target audience includes managers, teachers, and coordinators. The duration for the Informatics in Education program is slightly longer at 20 months, also concluding with the submission of a TCC.

The total of 450 vacancies is distributed across the available courses and support poles. According to the official notice, each course will offer 50 vacancies per support pole.

The distribution of vacancies follows a specific quota system to ensure diversity and inclusion. The breakdown of the vacancies is as follows:

• 5% reserved for people with disabilities;
• 5% reserved for indigenous candidates;
• 20% reserved for black candidates (Black or Brown);
• The remaining 70% is allocated for open competition.

Candidates must select the appropriate category during the application process based on their eligibility.

To complete the registration, the candidate must possess a Google (Gmail) email account. It is strictly required to choose only one support pole at the time of registration; changes are not permitted after submission.

Eligible applicants must hold a graduation degree (Technologist, Bachelor, or Licentiate) from an institution accredited by the MEC. During the application, candidates must provide personal data and select the desired vacancy modality: open competition, racial quotas, quotas for people with disabilities, or quotas for indigenous candidates.
