Bauru Lottery Station Hits Three Quines in Mega Da Virada

A lottery station in Bauru, São Paulo, registered three bets that missed the Mega da Virada jackpot by a single number. The establishment, located on Avenida Cruzeiro do Sul, registered three bets that hit five of the six winning numbers (quina) during the contest.

The winning numbers for the 2025 Mega da Virada were 09, 13, 21, 32, 33, and 59. The prize pool of R$1.09 billion was divided among six winning tickets nationwide, though none were sold in Bauru.

The local station paid out a total of R$142,800 to bettors who hit the quina and quadra (four numbers). Owner Paulo Arcolin noted the coincidence, stating the establishment has a history of significant prizes. Across the region, 45 bets hit the quina, with the largest local prize of R$59,657.10 going to a group in Botucatu.

• One pool (bolão) with 100 participants

In addition to the three quinas, the station registered 48 bets that hit the quadra (four numbers). The total value paid to bettors at this location amounted to R$142,800. According to the owner, all prizes have already been withdrawn. In the case of the pool, the value was divided among the participants as previously agreed.

Paulo Arcolin, the 47-year-old proprietor of the establishment, commented on the results. "Tem gente que diz que a lotérica é 'pé quente'. Esses resultados mostramos que estamos no caminho certo," Arcolin said, noting that some people call the station 'hot-footed' (lucky).

Two of the three quina-winning bets involved the participation of the owner and employees of the station. Arcolin described the experience as a mix of intense feelings.

"Foi uma mistura muito intensa de sentimentos. Existe aquela sensação de que faltou muito pouco, ainda mais se tratando de um prêmio desse tamanho. Mas também houve alegria e comemoração, porque não é comum chegar tão perto de um prêmio histórico como esse," he stated.

Despite not having a jackpot winner this time, Arcolin believes the station's luck continues. He highlighted the station's track record, which includes:

• Dozens of important prizes over the years
• Five main prizes from Lotofácil
• Consistent wins in Quina and Mega-Sena contests

He left an optimistic message for those who believe the station is lucky: "É para continuar acreditando."

Beyond the three bets in Bauru, seven other games in the city missed the maximum prize by one number. In total, 45 bets in the central-west region of São Paulo state hit the quina.

The largest prize in the region was R$59,657.10, won by a 15-share pool in Botucatu. The sum of all quina prizes in the region was R$882,923.52.

Nationally, the R$1.09 billion prize was shared by six winning tickets. The winning numbers were:

Three of the winning tickets were physical bets sold at lottery houses in João Pessoa, Ponta Porã, and Franco da Rocha. The other three were placed via the Caixa digital channels. The bettors are from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Belo Horizonte.

Aside from the jackpot, 3,921 bets hit the quina and will receive R$11,931.42 each. Meanwhile, 308,315 winners of the quadra will receive R$216.76 each.

The draw for contest 2,955 was traditionally scheduled for the evening of December 31st but was delayed until the morning of January 1st due to technical problems.

The Caixa (the bank managing the lottery) reported that the historic prize caused record movement on betting channels. Digital channels saw up to 120,000 transactions per second, while physical lottery units saw 4,745 transactions per second. This volume required operational adjustments before the draw could be performed.
