Major Comic Releases Scheduled for 2026

Marvel Comics is building toward its major 2026 crossover event titled Armageddon. This event follows the conclusion of One World Under Doom, which left the world recovering from temporary tyrannical rule. The Armageddon storyline is being spearheaded by Chip Zdarsky, the writer of Captain America, and is described as a event that will shake up the Avengers franchise in a way not seen since 2004's Avengers Disassembled.

The foundation for Armageddon will be laid in February with the Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon miniseries before the main event launches in summer 2026. This represents a significant shift for the Avengers franchise and follows the recent conclusion of One World Under Doom.

DC Comics is launching DC Next Level, a new promotion featuring a wave of titles following the conclusion of DC K.O. This initiative represents phase 2 of the DC All In initiative that began in 2024. The first batch of books includes Lobo by Skottie Young and Jorge Corona, Batwoman by Greg Rucka and DaNi, and Deathstroke: The Terminator by Tony Fleecs and Carmine Di Giandomenico.

The Absolute Universe continues to expand with Absolute Green Arrow scheduled for Spring 2026 by Pornsak Pichetshote and Rafael Albuquerque. This series is described as a horror comic, differing significantly from reader expectations. Additional Absolute titles include Absolute Wonder Woman #15 and Absolute Batman #16, which will feature the first team-up between Batman and Wonder Woman in this universe. The Absolute Wonder Woman series will also introduce this world's version of Zatanna.

The X-Men franchise is undergoing a relaunch titled Shadows of Tomorrow following the conclusion of the Age of Revelation crossover event. This new status quo will introduce plenty of new titles and fresh starting points for continuing books like Wolverine, X-Men, and Uncanny X-Men.

Notable upcoming titles include X-Men United by Eve L. Ewing and Tiago Palman, which deals with Emma Frost creating a psychic haven for mutantkind, and Cyclops by Alex Paknadel and Roge Antonio, focusing on the mutant leader breaking out on his own.

Archie Comics is partnering with Oni Press for a complete reboot of their comic line with a postmodern approach. The creative teams include W. Maxwell Prince and Nick Cagnetti for Archie, Corinna Bechko and Kano for Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Patrick Horvath and Tyler Crook for Archie in Hell. The stated goal is to provide the Archie franchise's answer to All-Star Superman.

IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles publishing line continues its successful run into 2026. The flagship TMNT comic recently underwent a major evolution with the new creative team of Gene Luen Yang and Freddie E. Williams II. They introduced a major new villain called Ujigami, with issue #13 delivering a significant twist. The line also includes spinoffs like TMNT: Casey Jones and TMNT: Shredder. Writers Tom Waltz and Kevin Eastman are working on a third act of the Last Ronin trilogy, with potential release in 2026.

The anthology series Negative Burn is returning in 2026 through the Zoop crowdfunding platform. The series aims to explore numerous genres and provide a platform for creators to push boundaries.
