Lenovo Unveils New Legion & LOQ Gaming Laptops at CES 2026

Lenovo has unveiled a major update to its gaming laptop portfolio for CES 2026. The technology giant is refreshing its Legion and LOQ series with the latest hardware from Nvidia, AMD, and Intel. The announcements focus on thinner designs, AI-optimized performance, and high-refresh-rate OLED displays.

The new Legion 7a serves as the flagship model, targeting a diverse audience that includes gamers, creators, and working professionals. It is powered by AMD Ryzen AI 400 CPUs and Nvidia RTX 50-series GPUs. The Legion 5 series also receives a dual-track update with Intel and AMD variants, while the LOQ series receives an entry-level update for students.

Availability is slated for April 2026, with prices ranging from $1,150 to over $2,000 depending on the configuration. All new devices utilize Windows 11 Copilot+ and feature proprietary software designed to dynamically manage power and thermals.

Lenovo is positioning the new Legion 7a as its premier device for 2026. The laptop has been physically redesigned to be both thinner and lighter than the previous generation. It is engineered to handle demanding tasks, which Lenovo describes as ready for "complex coding, simulation, and 3D modeling projects."

Under the hood, the Legion 7a is built around Nvidia RTX 50-series GPUs. It will be powered by AMD Ryzen AI 400 CPUs, delivering up to 125W of total system power. While precise details on all configurations remain unavailable, the device supports up to a Ryzen AI 9 HX 470 processor and up to an RTX 5060 GPU.

The visual experience is anchored by a 16-inch OLED display. The laptop runs on Windows 11 Copilot+ and utilizes on-board software to dynamically tune power usage and thermals based on the workload. The Legion 7a will start at $2,000 and is expected to be available in April.

The Legion 5 line is receiving a versatile update, offering consumers a choice between Intel and AMD processors. Lenovo is introducing the Legion 5i, powered by the new Intel Core Ultra Series 3, and the Legion 5a, which offers a choice between an AMD Ryzen AI 400 or a Ryzen 200 processor.

Both variants share several core features with the higher-end 7a. They will offer RTX 50-series GPUs, OLED displays, and the same software-based power and thermal tuning features. Lenovo states that these machines are ready for a variety of use cases, including gaming, streaming, building presentations, and video editing.

Configuration options for the Legion 5 series include:

• Legion 5i: Up to an Intel Ultra 9 386H with an RTX 5060 GPU.
• Legion 5a: Up to a Ryzen AI 9 465 with an RTX 5060 GPU.

Pricing for the Legion 5i starts at $1,550. The Legion 5a starts at $1,500 for the Ryzen AI 400 model and $1,300 for the Ryzen 200 model. These laptops are also expected in April.

Targeting the student demographic, Lenovo is updating its entry-level LOQ series. The new models announced are the LOQ 15AHP11 and the LOQ 15IPH11. Despite being entry-level, these devices do not compromise on graphics, featuring Nvidia RTX 50-series graphics.

The laptops feature a WQXGA (2560 x 1600) LCD display up to 15.3 inches. The LOQ 15AHP11 will start at $1,150 with availability expected in April. However, the LOQ 15IPH11 will not be sold in the US market.

Lenovo's CES 2026 lineup demonstrates a clear strategy to cover the entire spectrum of portable gaming and creative work. By integrating Nvidia RTX 50-series GPUs across the board and offering both AMD and Intel CPU options, the company provides flexibility for different user preferences and budgets.
