The classic novel Germinal by Émile Zola has been recently reissued. The new edition comes from the publisher Bernat Metge. It features a translation by Anna Casassas and a prologue by poet Maria Sevilla. The book is part of a larger literary tradition tracing French history through fiction.
Zola wrote twenty novels between 1870 and 1893. His work was inspired by the ninety works of Balzac's Comédie Humana. The new edition contains 576 pages and is priced at 29,95 euros. The story centers on a mining colony and the struggles of the Maheu family.
