Two Friends Killed in Jaguaré Car Crash

A tragic head-on collision on the ES-430 highway in Jaguaré claimed the lives of two friends and left three others injured on the morning of Wednesday, December 24. The fatal crash occurred near the Córrego Cachimbal community in the rural zone of the municipality.

The victims were identified as José Márcio Lima Correia and Jocimario Aragão Barbosa, both 43 years of age. The two men were traveling together in a Chevrolet Cobalt when their vehicle collided with a Fiat Doblò. Emergency services responded to the scene, transporting the injured occupants of the second vehicle to a local hospital.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:40 AM on a stretch of road connecting the BR-101 highway to the seat of Jaguaré. According to information provided by the Polícia Militar, the incident involved a frontal collision between the two cars.

The Chevrolet Cobalt, carrying the two friends, was involved in a head-on crash with the Fiat Doblò. The impact was severe, resulting in the immediate deaths of both occupants of the Cobalt.

Emergency responders arrived at the location to assist the victims. The three occupants of the Fiat Doblò were injured in the crash. This group included a child. All injured parties were treated at the scene and subsequently transported to the Hospital Estadual Roberto Silvares located in São Mateus.

The two deceased men were identified as longtime friends. José Márcio Lima Correia was a resident of the state of Espírito Santo. Jocimario Aragão Barbosa had traveled from the state of Bahia to spend the end-of-year holidays with his family when he met up with his friend.

Following the crash, the bodies of the deceased were transported to the Serviço Médico Legal (SML) in Linhares. Family members arrived at the facility in the afternoon to handle the release of the bodies but declined to speak with the press.

The Polícia Científica reported that forensic experts were activated to investigate the scene. The bodies underwent necropsy examinations before being released to the families.

The serious nature of the accident necessitated the partial closure of the highway. The road was blocked to allow for the treatment of victims and the removal of the wrecked vehicles from the roadway.

Members of the Polícia Militar were deployed to the location to manage traffic flow and guide drivers around the incident. The road closure lasted for several hours, with traffic not being fully restored until approximately 4:00 PM that afternoon.
