Quick Summary#

Vehicle sales in Brazil showed positive momentum in 2025, with total registrations reaching 2,689,179 units. This figure was released by the Federação Nacional da Distribuição de Veículos Automotores (Fenabrave) on Tuesday, January 13.

The data indicates a 2.08% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, the 2025 sales volume represents a substantial 16.59% rise relative to 2023 levels, when 2.3 million new vehicles were registered.

2025 Sales Figures Released#

The Brazilian automotive market recorded the sale of 2,689,179 new vehicles in 2025. This total encompasses automobiles, commercial light vehicles, caminhões (trucks), and ônibus (buses).

The Federação Nacional da Distribuição de Veículos Automotores (Fenabrave) was the entity responsible for releasing these statistics. The announcement was made on Tuesday, January 13, providing the official figures for the year.

These numbers reflect the volume of vehicles that were emplacados (registered/license plated) throughout the country during the 2025 calendar year.

Year-over-Year Comparisons#

The 2025 performance showed a modest but positive growth rate. The total of 2,689,179 vehicles sold represents a 2.08% increase over the figures recorded in the preceding year.

Looking at a longer timeline, the market recovery is more pronounced. The 2025 sales volume is 16.59% higher than the numbers from 2023. During that year, the market registered approximately 2.3 million new vehicles.

This upward trend suggests a continued recovery in the automotive sector following the lower volumes recorded in 2023.

Scope of Data#

The statistics provided by Fenabrave cover specific vehicle categories. The count includes passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, heavy trucks, and buses.

It is important to note the exclusions in these specific metrics. The figures do not include motorcycles, which are tracked separately. Additionally, implementos rodoviários (road implements/trailers) are not counted in this total.

The data serves as a key indicator for the automotive distribution sector in Brazil, tracking the flow of new vehicles from manufacturers to end consumers.

Market Implications#

The release of these figures provides a benchmark for the industry. The growth from 2023 to 2025 indicates a strengthening demand for new vehicles in the Brazilian market.

Stakeholders in the automotive sector, including manufacturers and distributors, utilize this data to assess market health. The 2.08% annual growth in 2025, combined with the longer-term recovery trend, offers a positive outlook for the industry's trajectory.

Show HN: DebtBomb – Make TODOs expire and automatically create Jira tickets

Hi HN, In most codebases I’ve worked on, temporary hacks (“TODO: remove later”, “just for this release”) slowly become permanent. Nobody remembers why they exist, but they keep shipping to production. I built a small CLI called DebtBomb to make that explicit. Instead of free-form TODOs, you attach an expiry date to temporary code. When the date passes, CI fails until the code is removed or the expiry is intentionally extended. Recently I added integrations so expired debt bombs don’t just fail CI — they become visible and owned: When a debt bomb expires, DebtBomb can automatically create a Jira ticket with file path, owner, reason, and code snippet. It can also notify Slack, Discord, or Microsoft Teams. You can configure “expiring soon” warnings (e.g., 7 days before) so it’s not just a surprise break. Repo: https://github.com/jobin-404/debtbomb This is still early and I’m mainly trying to validate whether this actually improves how teams handle “temporary” code compared to TODOs, linters, or just creating tickets manually. I’d especially love feedback from people who’ve dealt with tech debt in long-lived codebases or CI-heavy environments. Thanks for reading.
